Dragon Age Origins, ongoing
Jul. 8th, 2012 08:11 pmAlistair and I are now mostly naked and locked in a dungeon together, and yet I am still unable to hit on him. Ahem. Anyway, I am now at the Landsmeet and so have obviously been playing quite a bit more. So far I have sided with the mages, picked Lord Harrowmont, destroyed the Anvil, killed the hermit who stole the Great Oak's acorn, and done two companion quests (Oghren and Morrigan) and the Warden's Peak and Stone Prisoner DLCs. I have gotten over not having to aim at things, but still feel that I'm not really managing everyone as well as I could for fights. Fortunately I am making up for this with a ridiculously low difficulty level.
I'm slightly confused about the system of ruling that they have in Ferelden. There is a Queen, the widow of the former King, and there's a regent, and we're also rushing around trying to get Alistair (who turns out to be an illegitimate son of the former king) set up as the next candidate for King. However, I had a long conversation with Wynne about how becoming a Grey Warden meant not having any titles or land or whatever, in what I think was meant as a way of helping me get over the loss of my family and their castle due to the machinations of Lord Howe (now a bloody smudge on the floor of another dungeon. Wynne's talk was not entirely successful at getting me to move on). Given that Alistair is also a Grey Warden, how come he's being set up as the next king? I would quite like to ask him about what he thinks about this whole thing anyway, but the last conversation I had with him was him digging for dirt on all the other companions, which was entertaining but not particularly regal. Also, this fired with two of them in front of us while I was trying to get through a door between levels, which was awkward.
I have also been unable to find any dialogue options that suggest that what I really think the country needs is some form of participatory democracy, better education, and possibly some breakthroughs in medical technology that don't involve herbs. I may just have to settle for snogging Zevran the next time I finally get into camp.
