Katherine Addison's The Goblin Emperor, which is good and the characters are great but it did suffer a bit by my having read so much favourable press beforehand
Yes. I just read it on holiday, and I was glad I'd seen this beforehand to help moderate my expectations. The plotty bits felt oddly pasted on and rushed, but I enjoyed it a lot for all that.
