Final Fantasy VII, play notes, continued

My sympathy level for Sephiroth dropped sharply after he burnt down my home town (I am very supportive of Cloud pointing out that yes, Sephiroth's childhood may have sucked, but he's just ruined the lives of a whole bunch of other people who are now equally unhappy, so possibly not the best coping mechanism). However, in the present I have just returned to said town, and if I thought playing through my flashbacks was a bit creepy, this does not compare at all to finding the town completely unburnt, with unrecognisable inhabitants who deny any fires at all, and, just to cap it all off, mysterious moaning black lumps with numbers tattooed on them lurking everywhere. I have elected not to go into the foreboding and possibly haunted mansion tonight. For some reason.
